JEDA Issues $91.6 Million in Bonds for American Leadership Academy in Lexington
Lexington, SC — Lexington County
The South Carolina Jobs-Economic Development Authority (JEDA) has issued $91,615,000 in Educational Facilities Revenue Bonds for American Leadership Academy-Lexington, a public charter school serving students from kindergarten through 12th grade.

The tax-exempt financing will be used to buy the land and renovate and equip facilities for its campus on Innovation Place near South Lake Drive and Interstate 20 in Lexington, as well as to refinance existing debt used to operate its current facility. The school currently has an enrollment of approximately 1,700 students.
“This financing supports our long-term vision for a permanent campus that gives students the space, resources, and environment they need to thrive. Being able to refinance existing debt is an added benefit.”
Amy DuBois, Board Chair for American Leadership Academy–Lexington

“Educational Facilities Revenue Bonds are an important tool for public charter schools as they expand capacity and invest in high-quality learning environments. Pope Flynn was honored to be chosen to work with the school and JEDA in this effort,” said Joe Lucas, Co-Bond Counsel with Pope Flynn in Columbia.
“Public charter schools play a growing role in South Carolina’s education landscape, and JEDA is pleased to help American Leadership Academy–Lexington serve more students while strengthening the community,” said JEDA Executive Director Jesse A. Smith.
